Sometimes all you need is a simple, auto levelling,  indoor cross line laser.  Whether it is for trade or for in the home there are plenty of models to choose from.  Here i shall outline the features of just five cross line lasers.

Bosch NEW GLL 2

Bosch GLL2

Like all the models I’m going to look at the NEW Bosch GLL2 produces one horizontal line and one vertical line handy for a whole host of interior levelling and alignment jobs around the site or home.  The feature that stands out on this model is its unusual mounting bracket clamp which allows you to place the laser on just about anything you can think of from a flat surface to a ladder or wall stud.  The GLL2 can also be mounted on a camera type tripod if required.  The GLL2 features a pendulum lock to prevent damage to the mechanism during transit or when not being used.

  • Accuracy – 5mm over 10m
  • Range – up to 10m
  • Power – 2x “AA”
  • Laser Type – Class 2

Dewalt DW087K

Dealt DW088K

Not the cheapest of the bunch but again has one horizontal and one vertical laser line.  The outstanding feature for this model is its build quality, its probably one of the toughest laser levels in its class even though it does not have a pendulum lock which personally i would prefer.  The other difference to many is that it features an integrated magnetic mount which is handy for steel work and framing.  Finally the lines seem brighter than lasers quoted with similar laser output and it has a large vertical line fan angle compared to many too.

  • Accuracy – 3mm over 10m
  • Range – up to 15m
  • Power – 3x “AA”
  • Laser Type – Class 2

Stanley Cross90

Stanley cross90

Im cheating a little with this ones it has one horizontal and two vertical lines at 90 degrees to the first.  So clearly its outstanding feature is the addition of a second vertical giving it the ability to help with squaring up say in kitchens etc.  Ive included here as it runs in at a similar cost to some of the others.  The Cross 90 also has a multi clamp system similar to the Bosch GLL2.

  • Accuracy – 5mm over 10m
  • Range – up to 15m
  • Power – 2x “AA”
  • Laser Type – Class 2

Bosch Quigo

Bosch Quingo

A very basic model here in Bosch’s green DIY range. Again one Horizontal and one vertical line but this time quite a narrow  fan angle just 60 degrees and a smaller range compared to the others of just 7m.  But you can buy it with or without a handy multi clamp and features a pendulum lock and lens cover.  Physically very small and a great price for the DIY buyer.

  • Accuracy – 5mm over 10m
  • Range – up to 7m
  • Power – 2x “AAA”
  • Laser Type – Class 2
